I hope those who have been following the aftermath of the murder of (black) Kenneth Chamberlain by (white) White Plains police officer Anthony Carelli are as disgusted by the Grand Jury’s dismissal of charges against Carelli as I am. What is there to be done against the racist police and their apologists?

goldbrow replied to your post: two fallacies about social constructs
perceiving social constructs as things that are dismissable is positioned from privilege. Having the ability to “ignore” things that are “made up” flattens the experiences of those who depend on or struggle with these constructions daily to survive.
1) “It’s just a social construct so it doesn’t matter.” Just a social construct? Like we don’t internalize, live, build laws and families and cultural traditions and interact with one another based on social constructs? That’s what makes us human, right - our complex mental and emotional lives and societies?
2) “You’ll never affect change in social constructs by just talking about them.” As if talking isn’t action? As if dissection and conversation aren’t key components of organizing?
this ^^^, 10 billion times YES
